Fly-half Freddie Burns rejoins Leicester Tigers
Leicester Tigers' Freddie Burns celebrates winning the Anglo-Welsh Cup Final at Twickenham Stoop, London.
Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of fly-half Freddie Burns for a second spell at the Premiership club.
Burns, 30, will return to Tigers next season. He is currently playing for Toyota Jido Shokki in Japan.
Burns’ initial spell at Leicester – from 2014 to 2017 – saw him make more than 70 appearances.
He also played for Gloucester and Bath, in addition to winning five England caps.
Valuable addition
“He is an experienced Premiership player who has played international rugby and will be a valuable addition to our squad,” Leicester head coach Steve Borthwick said.
And Burns added: “I can see the changes in the team and clear identity of the squad with Steve, and want to be a part of that.
“I am coming back to compete, and I want to be playing in the Premiership once again.”
