Australia back-row Scott Fardy is eager to commit to the Brumbies after a breakthrough season in Test rugby.

The 29-year-old's contract will expire at the end of next season, but Fardy is eager to stay in Canberra under the new coaching regime of Stephen Larkham and Laurie Fisher.

Fardy's breakthrough onto the international scene with the Wallabies saw him start 10 of the final 11 Tests played by Australia this year.

Now with his future up in the air after 2014 – along with other Brumbies stars including Jesse Mogg, Christian Leali'ifano, Matt Toomua and Henry Speight – Fardy is looking to secure his next contract.

The flanker/lock previously played in Japan before arriving at the Brumbies in 2012.

“We haven't started [negotiations], but I'm obviously keen to stay here,'' Fardy told the Canberra Times.

''I've got two good coaches I'm happy to play under and that's what drives my decision.

''With Laurie and [Larkham] here I'm very happy and hopefully for a long time after this.

''From what I've seen the work-rate [at training] has been there over the pre-season and I can't see things changing too much.''
