Matt Garvey extends Gloucester stay

Gloucester have confirmed that loose forward Matt Garvey has extended his stay at the Kingsholm-based club.

Garvey initially joined the Cherry and Whites on a short-term contract following the suspension of the 2019/20 season. But after a string of impressive performances, Garvey has now signed a new deal with the club.

A hardened professional, Garvey has been operating in the Premiership for over 10 years, previously with London Irish and Bath, and wasted no time in showing what value he can bring to the team in his short stint at Kingsholm so far.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington was pleased to be able to tie Garvey down to a new contract.

“Matt is a quality operator and we are really happy he’s agreed to stay on at the club,” he said.

“His experience of the Premiership is second to none, and he’s shown over the last couple of months that he still has plenty to offer playing at this level.”
