Evans keeping feet grounded

Scarlets hero Steff Evans is guarding against complacency ahead of next weekend's crunch derby clash against Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.

Scarlets secured their fourth bonus point victory of the season, against Connacht, at Parc y Scarlets on Friday evening but players and coaches alike believe they still have plenty to work on ahead of next week's derby clash.

Last season's championship top try scorer Evans was named man of the match after another sizzling performance and third PRO14 try of the season.

Despite crossing the whitewash himself and topping the championship player stats for try assists, most offloads and metres gained Evans was cautious of being too jubilant ahead of next week's derby clash after an under-par defensive performance.

Scarlets ran in five tries in total, securing the try bonus point in the first half, but allowed Connacht four tries of their own in what was a thrilling nine-try encounter for any neutral!

Speaking after the game Evans said; "It was frustrating for us, our attacking game was as good as it's been but when your defensive game isn't up to scratch it makes it more difficult. Our defence wasn't up to much tonight.

"Connacht always go to the end, fair play to them they carried on playing and our defensive errors let them in to the game.

"Having said that, it was a good win for us in the end but we have concentrate on our own game and work on our defence ahead of next week."
