Strengths – The wild-eyed man of Munster, the Corinthian of Cork, O'Callaghan wears his heart on his sleeve and combines committed tight work with a fierce determination around ruck and maul. A master at leading the catch and drive at the front of the lineout, his scrummaging power was described by John Hayes as 'pushing like a tractor'.
Weaknesses – Not the technical lineout specialist that O'Connell is, and a fiery temperament that sometimes catches the eye of the officials or results in over ambitious play.
Likely headline(s) – What's up DOC? DOC's orders.
Honours in the game – Munster HEC 2006, 2008 Celtic League 2003, Triple Crown 2004, 2006, 2007. British and Irish Lions 2005 (2 Tests)
Did you know? – Donncha's fame soared when he attempted to contest a line out following Munster's Heineken Cup clash with the Cardiff Blues, in his underpants! The referee sent Donncha to the sideline for a new pair of shorts which had been torn off in a preceding tackle. He currently lives with his long term girlfriend Rebecca and their pet lobster. He is also the cousin of Ipswich Town footballer George O'Callaghan.
