Davies to miss Wales tour?

Ospreys lock Bradley Davies has labelled himself a doubt for Wales’ June tests against Tonga and Samoa due to family reasons.

Davies’ wife is expecting their second child and the 30-year-old has already informed Wales caretaker coach Robin McBryde that he is highly unlikely to make the trip.

Davies told Wales Online: “I don’t think I’ll be going on the summer tour, because my wife is due to give birth. She’s expecting our second child, a baby boy, in the first week in July. My daughter is four and in school.

“It would be wrong for me to leave my wife on her own. If she has a C-section, for example, she will not be able to walk for four weeks. So it will be difficult.

“I’ve had a chat with Robin and explained the situation. Of course, she could give birth tomorrow and I could go then. But you have to put your family first.”

Capped 57 times by Wales, the 30-year-old lock’s experience would no doubt be welcomed by acting Wales head coach Robin McBryde with Alun Wyn Jones having been selected for the Lions tour.
