Davies re-elected WRU chairman

Gareth Davies has been re-elected as Chairman of the Welsh Rugby Union by his fellow Board members and will serve a further three-year term after standing unopposed.

"I wholeheartedly thank the Board for their endorsement and look forward to a further three years in the role, a period where we hope to see exciting changes with regard to the governance of our national game," said Davies.

"We are determined to embrace change together and to modernise and streamline our structure for the greater good of Welsh rugby."

Davies has suggested changes to the governance of Welsh rugby. The current Board membership would be reduced and the 'District' system could be introduced, segregating Wales into nine areas mirrored by board representation.

Davies also wants to create a separate council to take responsibility for the grassroots club game.
