Daly channeling his emotions

Emotions have been running high this week in camp with the Lions and Elliot Daly is ready to channel it all the right way into Saturday’s Test series decider.

Warren Gatland revealed Thursday’s training session was ‘tasty’ after announcing an unchanged 23 for the third and final Test against the All Blacks on Saturday.

And Friday’s session was the last all together as a squad for the 2017 Lions before they take on the All Blacks at their Eden Park home this weekend.

Daly has loved every minute of his maiden Lions Tour and now can’t wait to try and send them out on a high.

“Everyone is excited, we trained really well this week and today was the last session altogether so there is a lot of emotion going around and everyone is trying to channel that into the weekend,” he told the British and Irish Lions' official website.

“We know how important this game is, people don’t get this opportunity very often.

“We knew training this week had to be good and I think we have really trained well and are looking forward to Saturday.

“Everybody fit with no midweek games gives everyone a chance to train together, it gives you 15 on 15 and a bit of a contact as well.

“Everything has been bubbling this week, it’s been a very good training buzz and everyone has been looking forward to it. We have got this opportunity now and we have to try and take it.”

Victory in the second Test in Wellington came against 14 men for much of the clash after Sonny Bill Williams saw red in the first half.

And while two late tries and Owen Farrell’s penalty proved the difference in a comeback win, Daly knows there is still much to improve on in the decisive final clash.

“We have a lot to improve on, we have not put a full performance together and that is what is really exciting about this weekend,” he added.

“Our defence was very good last weekend to limit them to no tries but probably our discipline wasn’t good enough so we will have to look at that this weekend.

“We have got a lot more to come, and hopefully we can piece those things together this weekend and put in a full all-round performance.”
