The former England forward is set to retire at the end of the season and that will come on Sunday at Adams Park if Wasps lose their play-off semi-final to Bath.

But Dallaglio wants one more week of big match preparation and one more trip to Headquarters.

“It will be pretty emotional but rugby is a pretty emotional game,” he said.

“The important thing for me is to channel that emotion into the performance, into the team's performance, so that we can win against Bath and have one more week at Twickenham.”

History is on Wasps' side with no team having won a Guinness Premiership semi-final away from home.

“Obviously it's a hard thing to do,” said Dallaglio

“That is not to suggest it wouldn't happen in the future but it is obviously very hard.

“We are very comfortable playing at Adams Park. We respect Bath, we know they play some outstanding rugby, we know they will be a very tough challenge, but it is what you play the game for, to be in matches like this weekend and have the opportunity of playing for the right to go to Twickenham.”

Wasps also beat Bath twice in the regular season, but inevitably Dallaglio reads nothing into that.

“You have got to forget what has happened against any side, whether you have won or lost,” he added.

“These are unique, one-off games. It will be a Test match atmosphere, a Test match intensity this weekend.

“Obviously there are no bonus points at stake and the result is paramount for both teams.

“It is a place that we aim to be at the end of the season, a place we are used to being at the end of most seasons and we are really looking forward to it. It should be exciting.”
