The Crusaders‘ 32-8 Super Rugby triumph over the Hurricanes in Wellington on Friday was soured by an injury to All Blacks captain Kieran Read.
Read sustained a leg injury midway through the first half but continued to play before being replaced by Jordan Taufua at half-time.
“Technically, he has got a double haematoma,” Crusaders head coach Robertson told Reuters.
“He got two knocks in the same place and he seized up at half-time, so we took him off.”
Robertson said he was confident Read would make a speedy recovery although he would not put a time frame on the 33-year-old’s return.
“He went all right when he was on, he went a full 100 [percent],” Robertson said.
“I thought he was going to ease himself back into the game, but in that first five minutes, the amount of touches and tackles he made, it was pretty impressive.”
