Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan broke the news pre-game after the 20-year-old felt the effects of Wednesday's defeat to Bath at Adams Park – with three days proving insufficient for recovery.

Cipriani played for 51 minutes in that Guinness Premiership game – his first since suffering a horrific ankle injury more than four months ago.
