Cheika in hot water

Australia coach Michael Cheika may face disciplinary action for his behaviour during his side’s defeat to England at Twickenham.

Cheika, according to Sky Sports, made comments in the coaches’ booth and after the match, and action will be brought against him.

Cheika allegedly felt upset over numerous decisions made by referee Ben O’Keeffe and television match official Simon McDowell.

A camera caught him allegedely mouthing swear words and saying “cheats” when Michael Hooper was sin-binned during the Wallabies’ 30-6 loss on Saturday.

He also left his post-match interview early when asked about the incident.

A single panel is dealing with all disciplinary issues during the Autumn International. They also dealth with the Six Nations and not World Rugby.

The panel handed France international Yoann Maestri a £26,000 fine for criticising referee Wayne Barnes following a win over Wales earlier this year.

Maestri’s fine was suspended until the end of this season.
