Challenge Cup line-ups: Pool Five

Gloucester have rested a number of players as they host Rovigo while La Rochelle and Agen face off for the Pool lead.

Bryan Redpath has rested a number of players as Gloucester face off against Rovigo in their Amlin Challenge Cup second round match.

The Cherry and Whites came unstuck in their opening European encounter Agen, but will be confident of getting back on track when they welcome Rovigo to Kingsholm.

Redpath has handed 20-year-old fly-half Freddie Burns his first start of the season, with Burns set to lead a backline that has a good mix of youth and experience.

The Gloucester boss is confident that Burns is up to the challenge.

“Freddie's only played 40minutes since June. It's a chance for him to shine and get some game time under his belt,” Redpath told This is Gloucestershire.

“He's a great young talent, and managing the game from the start is something he's going to be judged on, and Saturday's a real opportunity for him.”

Rovigo were comprehensively beaten by Le Rochelle last weekend and coach Polla Roux has responded by making nine changes and one positional switch to his starting line-up. The changes include a complete overhaul of both the front row and the half-back pairing.
