Former Italy head coach Jacques Brunel is in line to take over as head coach at Bordeaux-Bègles next season.

Brunel has coached the Top 14 club's forwards since leaving his role with the Azzurri after the end of the 2016 Six Nations last year.

Sud-Ouest report that UBB president Laurent Marti is due to make the announcement this week regarding Brunel's promotion, which comes after Raphaël Ibanez announced he was leaving the club.

Another former French international, Emile Ntamack, is also set to depart the Stade Chaban-Delmas come the end of the campaign.

Brunel, a former France assistant coach, previously led Perpignan to the Top 14 title back in 2010.
