Brumbies reject Mogg AFL talk
Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham has rejected talk of Jesse Mogg switching from Rugby Union to AFL this year.
Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham has rejected talk of Jesse Mogg switching from Rugby Union to AFL this year.
Mogg linked up with the Brisbane Lions for some kicking training in December as he continued to recover from shoulder surgery.
Renowned for his kicking game from full-back for the Brumbies, Mogg could certainly make the switch between codes based on his ability.
But the 24-year-old has no intention of leaving the Brumbies after representing the Wallabies earlier this year against the British and Irish Lions, according to Larkham.
“He's got a massive and accurate boot … he'd be an excellent AFL player but I don't want to talk him up too much,'' Larkham told the Sydney Morning Herald.
''We got Moggy back in kicking in December and we didn't want it to drop away over the holiday break. We teed up a few opportunities for him to kick in Brisbane and he enjoyed it.
''And from all reports, they were pretty impressed. Moggy's had a couple of good years. I think he's still chasing the Wallabies dream.''
Mogg is one of a group of high profile Brumbies out of contract at the end of this season along with Scott Fardy, Christian Lealiifano and Matt Toomua.
