Bowe raring to go after impressive comeback

Ulster winger Tommy Bowe is raring to go after he made an impressive comeback from injury against Zebre at the weekend.

Bowe scored a brace of tries against Zebre after recovering from a knee injury sustained during last year's Rugby World Cup in England. 

He was supposed to be amongst the replacements against the Italian outfit but was elevated to Ulster's run-on side after Andrew Trimble withdrew through illness on Friday.

And he came through Ulster's 47-17 win unscathed with no repurcussions to his injury.

"It has been a long couple of months I've been out and I'm delighted to be back here," Bowe told the Six Nations' official website.

"I was blowing – it was a tough match with a lot of running in it. 

"It was very hot but it's brilliant to back on the match, great to pick up a few tries and a good win for us going into the big games ahead.

"I was delighted to play 80 minutes – I wasn't sure if I was expected to get through 80 but I felt good through the game and it was nice to finish off with a second try at the end.

"We looked sharp at different stages – I think we maybe gifted Zebre a few easy chances so we're happy with some aspects but there is a little bit we need to look at.

"But on the whole, we came over here, got five points and can head back home with it all to play for."
