Bonus-point win as Toulouse go four from four
Toulouse will go into the new year on top of Pool One in the Champions Cup after they overcame Wasps 42-27 with a bonus-point on Saturday.
Despite the conditions this was a match high on quality as Yoann Huget, Joe Tekori, Romain Ntamack and Antoine Dupont crossed the try-line. Full-back Thomas Ramos was also excellent as he finished with a personal tally of 17 points as Toulouse lay down the challenge to Leinster.
Wasps’ try-scorers were Josh Bassett, Willie le Roux and Ross Neal with Billy Searle slotting 12 points. The English side remain bottom of this pool.
If Toulouse thought struggling Wasps would roll over on their visit to France they found out that wouldn’t be the case as Dai Young’s team chanced their arm in an entertaining game in France. Players such as Elliot Daly and Le Roux relished the underdog tag and performed well.

Toulouse though, who have been on an upward climb in terms of performance in recent months under Ugo Mola, went in at half-time 22-20 ahead as crossings from Huget, Tekori and Ntamack gave them a sniff of what would be a vital bonus point with Leinster breathing down their neck.
Wasps, as mentioned, were equally as impressive and despite the cloud of uncertainty over several of their players’ rugby home next season, they crossed through Bassett and Le Roux to stay in touch. They knew a win at the Stade Ernest Wallon would be a springboard to take home.
The second period also provided plenty of entertainment but Toulouse ultimately proved too strong in front of their home support. And they can now return to Top 14 rugby over the festive period thoroughly delighted with their four wins out of four record in the Champions Cup.
