England were dealt a blow ahead of their upcoming Six Nations campaign with the news that back-row Billy Vunipola has suffered a broken arm.

The Saracens number eight picked up the injury seven minutes into the Premiership champions’ victory over Racing 92 in their Champions Cup encounter in London on Sunday.

Although no time frame has been given for his return, Vunipola is unlikely to play any part in the forthcoming Six Nations as he comes to terms with the fourth fractured arm of his career.

According to an injury update on Saracens’ official website, the 27-year-old will see a consultant over the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury before undergoing rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old is one of England’s most forceful carriers and was a key weapon in last year’s march to the World Cup final.
