Betting preview: Sale a good shout

Editor

We take a look over the best bets for the upcoming weekend’s action.

The game at Twickenham between the Barbarians and Argentina is the standout fixture while the Premiership, PRO14 and Top 14 rolls on as we hit December and the festive period.

Due to a lack of odds on the Baa-baas game we are focusing on a game from the Premiership and PRO14 so without further ado, here they are.

Bath v Sale Sharks

The sole game on Sunday sees Bath take on a dangerous Sale Sharks side at the Recreation Ground as eighth meets 10th in the Premiership.

Sale are 47-20 underdogs with 888sport but their team on paper is an impressive one and they are more than capable of securing a result. Bath, meanwhile, are 1/2 favourites with Sky Bet, Betfair, BetVictor and Paddy Power but struggled last time out at Newcastle Falcons.

Sale, who boast Faf de Klerk, Robert du Preez, Denny Solomona, James O’Connor and Chris Ashton in their backline stocks, are capable of punishing any opponent and we fancy them to rise up the league standings in the coming months as they are not relegation material.

Take a look at Sale on the half-time/full-time option at 10/3 and once the prices come out Ashton and Solomona are worth a look to cross.

Glasgow v Scarlets

Top of Conference A meets second in Conference B at Scotstoun on Saturday as Glasgow (4/11 Sky Bet) and Scarlets (13/5 several) face-off.

The Warriors are flying in their standings as they currently sit eight points above Munster while Scarlets are 10 behind an in-form Leinster.

We’re expecting a lot of points between these two but also for it to go down to the wire, with Glasgow by 1-12 points at 13/8 (Sky Bet). Alternatively, the Welsh outfit are 10/3 for the same margin with the same bookmaker and +8 on the handicap with several at 10/11 odds.

With Glasgow missing several of their star men it may also be worth looking at the Scarlets to win both halves (24/5 with 888sport) while on the try-scoring front Steff Evans and also Uzair Cassiem of Scarlets are definitely worth a look, as is Glasgow scrum-half George Horne.
