Betting preview: November internationals, Week Four
Ahead of the fourth and final weekend of the November internationals, we look over the best bets from two matches taking place on Saturday.
It’s another busy round of fixtures with England against Australia and Wales versus South Africa standing out as teams look to finish well.
We’ve gone for those two games as our featured betting previews so without further ado, here’s our preferred picks, plus a best of the rest.
England v Australia
The match at Twickenham sees England (4/11 with several) take on Australia (149/50 with Marathon Bet). England have definitely upped their game this past month with their performance against New Zealand standing out as progress. All their big guns return to the side this week.
Australia, meanwhile, are under pressure to get a win on Saturday as, despite beating Italy one week ago, their form in 2018 has not inspired confidence with Rugby Australia and their supporters. They’re +8 on the handicap with Betway, BoyleSports and Bet365 offering Evens there.
We see this one going down to the wire and therefore the win margin is worth a look, with England by 1-12 points 17/10 with Betfair or by 1-7 points (13/5 with Betstars). That same margin but for Australia is 9/2 with the same bookmaker or at 1-5 points they’re 15/2 (Betway).
On the player front, Joe Cokanasiga is 8/1 favourite (Sky Bet and Unibet) to cross the line first with Jonny May 9/1 (Unibet), Sefa Naivalu, Elliot Daly and Israel Folau all 14/1 (several). The latter is always a decent punt and we believe there is value in backing the Wallaby and, for those romantics among you, how about Will Genia to cross on his 100th Test at 17/2 with Sky Bet?
Wales v South Africa
What a game this promises to be at the wonderful venue of the Principality Stadium. Two rousing anthems will whet the appetite pre-game in Cardiff before sparks are set to fly between the Welsh and Boks. Wales are best priced 21/20 on BetVictor with South Africa 13/10 (Betway).
Both are in decent form as Wales are on a great run of wins and, had South Africa not fallen to an unfortunate loss to England, they would be on the verge of a flawless November Test campaign. Rassie Erasmus is doing impressive things in the hotseat and they are 13/5 to win by 1-10 points (Betfair and Betway) which looks a good bet if you want to back them. Wales, meanwhile, are 23/10 with 10Bet to win by the same margin.
Don’t expect a cagey match as we predict a good few tries in this one which makes Josh Adams and George North decent shouts to score. They are both 21/10 for a crossing (Betfair) while Aphiwe Dyantyi (11/5 with Unibet) and Sbu Nkosi (3/1 with Betfair) also amongst the thinking.
Best of the rest
Scotland against Argentina promises to be a points fest as both sides are known for their attacking rugby. The Scots have opted for a 10-12 combination of Adam Hastings and Finn Russell, which bodes well for an expansive game, while the Pumas are always capable of scoring tries. The points line has yet to be set but keep an eye on that market and anything that is around the 55 points mark we’d advise going over it.
In Rome, there’s a good chance Ngani Laumape (20/21 with Betway) and Beauden Barrett (6/4 with Betfair) will cross for New Zealand, while Jack Conan (23/20 with Bet365) and Niall Scannell (15/8 with Betfair) catch our eye in the Ireland versus USA clash. Tadhg Beirne (15/8) is also a good pick.
