Bath quash Halfpenny talk

Bath have rubbished speculation linking them with a move for Wales and British and Irish Lions full-back Leigh Halfpenny.

This, after Wasps coach Dai Young told the Rugby Paper on Sunday that the club were no longer interested in acquiring the 28-year-old's services.

Halfpenny is out of contract and without a club for next season after Toulon did not offer him a new deal.

According to reports he visited Bath's training base Farleigh House in the English spring which intensified the speculation. But there were always doubts over whether Bath would be willing to meet his wage demand with Halfpenny reported to have been on 600,000 Euros a year at Toulon.

And now Bath Director of Rugby Todd Blackadder has refuted rumours that Bath have been courting the expert goal-kicker.

"We haven't spoken to him at all," Blackadder told the Bath Chronicle.

"We're not in that space. There's no truth to those links at all."
