Bath boss Gary Gold has revealed that the club's second row Dave Attwood should be fit to play for England during November.

Bath's director of rugby Gary Gold has revealed that the club's second row Dave Attwood should be fit to play for England during their November Test programme.

Attwood sustained a rib injury in the Premiership clash with London Irish last month, and there were fears that he could be sidelined for his country's international fixtures.

The Bath man impressed on England's June tour of Argentina, winning selection in coach Stuart Lancaster's Elite Player Squad.

Gold, however, feels his player should return to fitness in time for the club's return to Premiership duty in two weeks' time when Gloucester visit the Recreation Ground, following the fortnight of European clashes.

“We do expect Dave to be back,” Gold told the Bath Chronicle.

“I am hoping he will be fit for the Gloucester game.

“Stuart was here on Friday. We had lengthy conversations with him about all our players as we do every couple of months – his communication is outstanding. I think he is really happy with where everyone is.

“The England selectors aren't going to look at an individual on one game. I don't think Stuart is going to select or de-select anybody on the form of playing in Bordeaux.

“He wants to see consistent performances. We know how Dave went in the second half against Saracens, how he featured in the rain at Newcastle in a tough contest and how he went against Leicester. Those are the ones that matter.”
