Antoine Dupont: France star named Six Nations Player of the Championship

The world’s best player Antoine Dupont has won yet another award after being selected as the Six Nations Player of the Championship for 2022.
It is the second time Dupont has claimed the honour after also taking home the title in 2020.
The inspirational half-back beat off competition from team-mate Gregory Alldritt and Ireland’s Josh van der Flier to add to his trophy cabinet.
Dupont said: “It’s always a pleasure and point of pride to receive prizes but it’s difficult because it’s a team sport.
“There are 15 of us on the pitch, 23 in the matchday squad and 50-60 who prepare for these games and these wins. I really want to thank my teammates today.”
Joins exalted company
After Brian O’Driscoll and Stuart Hogg, Dupont becomes the third player to be named the player of the tournament more than once.
He won a fan vote after playing a key role in France’s Grand Slam triumph, saving his best until last with a stunning performance in the 25-13 triumph over England.
Six Nations chief executive Ben Morel said: “Antoine is a truly special player, and central to a France team that goes from strength to strength.
“He also has a gift to put fans on the edge of their seats whenever he has his hands on the rugby ball.
“This year’s championship was incredible for so many reasons, and the final game in Paris was a fitting finale, with Antoine and his team winning a Grand Slam.”
