Anthony Watson ruled out for the season
Bath and England utility back Anthony Watson has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to an Achilles injury.
Watson suffered the injury towards the end of the first half during England’s 24-15 defeat against Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday.
The 24-year-old, who has represented his country in 33 Tests, is set to be sidelined for six months which means he will miss England's tour to South Africa in June and Bath's remaining Premiership matches.
Bath's director of rugby, Todd Blackadder, confirmed that Watson will be sidelined for the rest of the season and said his absence will be keenly felt.
"Anthony has been in superb form this year, and we’re obviously really disappointed to have lost him at a critical part of the season," he said.
"However, he in great hands here with the support of the medical team here at Bath Rugby, and we will be working to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible."
