Allen moves into financial sector

Edinburgh have announced that centre Michael Allen will leave the professional game at the end of the season to embark on a new career.

The 26-year-old, who has made 31 appearances for Edinburgh, is set for a career in the financial sector in the Scottish capital.

Before moving to Scotland, he represented his home side, Ulster, picking up 48 caps during his time with the Belfast club.

He said: "The decision to pursue a new career away from rugby was an extremely hard one to make and one that took a lot of thought and deliberation.

"I’ve fulfilled a lifelong dream of playing the game professionally and have loved every minute of the experience, but realise that now is the time for me to step away from pro-rugby.

"As a family, we have fallen in love with Edinburgh and see the place as a home-from-home, so we’re delighted to continue living in the city and I look forward to supporting the boys in the seasons to come."
