A big six re-sign at Munster

Planet Rugby

Munster and the IRFU have announced that Joey Carbery, Liam Coombes, Chris Farrell, Jean Kleyn, Jack O’Sullivan and Alex Kendellen have all put pen to paper on new contracts.

The six players have all signed two-year contract extensions that will see them remain with the province until at least June 2024.

Good servants

Since joining the squad in 2018, Ireland international Carbery has made 30 appearances in red, scoring 264 points in an injury-disrupted spell.

Ireland international centre Farrell has scored eight tries in 52 Munster appearances since making his debut in September 2017 and has also played 15 times for Ireland.

Kleyn, another international, is the most experienced capture of the lot, with close to 100 Munster appearances to his name and a dozen tries.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old academy product Coombes has shown his quality and versatility since moving up to the senior squad from the Academy in 2020, notching four tries in ten appearances in the centre and wing positions, while former academy back-row O’Sullivan has scored two tries in his 21 appearances over the past two and a half years.
