Wonder try: Jonny May

Relegated Worcester picked up only their second win of the season with a tense 28-27 victory over local rivals Gloucester at Sixways.

Gloucester established a strong lead with tries through Jonny May, Shane Monahan and Ben Morgan, but a penalty and two tries from Ryan Lamb and Semisi Taulava left the hosts just two behind at the break.

Worcester kept the momentum up as Josh Drauniniu went over before May gave Gloucester the lead again, but after both sides exchanged penalties through Lamb and Burns, the hosts snatched the victory with three minutes remaining when Lamb scored his third penalty of the game.

Gloucester looked to have taken an early lead through Elliott Stooke but, after some good footwork, Reynolds's pass was ruled to have gone forward.

Gloucester did open the scoring after 12 minutes though, with an outstanding try from May, who received a pass near his own tryline before running the length of the field to touch down.

The visitors scored a second try just two minutes later with Reynolds sprinting 60 metres before Freddie Burns found Monahan who dived over in the corner.

Former Gloucester player Lamb scored Worcester's first points after successfully kicking his penalty to close the gap to seven.

Morgan scored the visitors' third try of the game after powering over in a rolling maul, with Freddie Burns converting.

Worcester closed the gap again, scoring their first try of the game through Taulava, with Lamb's conversion attempt narrowly missing.

The visitors looked to be undoing their hard work as May was sent to the sin bin and Lamb went over under the posts following a rolling maul.

His conversion was successful and Worcester went into the break just two points behind.

The Warriors' comeback was completed when Drauniniu collected a crossfield kick before touching down and Lamb converted to open up a five-point lead.

Gloucester managed to stop the rot when May went over to score on the hour mark following a great break from Sione Kalamafoni and Billy Burns before his brother Freddie's conversion edged the visitors two points in front.

The lead changed hands once again as Rob Cook was sent to the sin bin, granting Lamb a penalty in front of the posts which he duly converted.

With just seven minutes remaining Gloucester retook the lead with a straightforward penalty from Burns after a lengthy period of possession, but the hosts were not finished yet as Lamb scored a penalty with just over three minutes left to play.

Gloucester had a final chance to snatch victory with another penalty, but Burns's kick drifted wide, sealing the second win of the season for the hosts.
