Clermont scrum-half Morgan Parra scored all his team's points as they beat Stade Français 25-13 at Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin on Saturday.
The result sees les Jaunards leapfrog their visitors from Paris to regain the lead in the Top 14 standings.
It is also Clermont's 72nd consecutive win on home soil in all competitions.
Clermont led 12-6 at the break thanks to four penalties from Parra's accurate boot while Stade Français fly-half Morne Steyn replied with two of his own.
The hosts should have led by a lot more at half time but full-back Jean Marcellin Buttin knocked-on in the act of diving over the tryline.
The Parra show continued in the second half as the home side extended their lead to 18-6 via two more penalties from the French international.
Parra then scored the game's first try in the 68th minute, taking a penalty quickly and jinking clear to score under the posts.
Stade's only reply came via former Wallaby wing Digby Ioane, who latched onto Steyn's kick-pass to score a consolation try in the dying minutes.
