Ben Atiga Edinburgh v Gloucester HEC 2013

Try-scorer: Ben Atiga

It was a case of sweet revenge for Edinburgh when they secured a 16-10 victory over Gloucester at Kingsholm on Sunday.

Edinburgh responded to last weekend's home defeat and claimed a deserved victory. The Scottish outfit went into the break with a 9-7 lead following three Jack Cuthbert penalties, while the Cherry and Whites' points came through a penalty try.

Although Freddie Burns gained Gloucester the lead with a three-pointer, Ben Atiga's touchdown sealed the win for the away side.

After keeping their European hopes alive with a 23-12 victory over the Gunners in round three, the hosts were looking to repeat that result. However, in appalling conditions, it was the visitors that initially managed them better as Cuthbert kicked them into a 3-0 lead.

The full-back then added a second from the tee before Nigel Davies' men got a foothold on proceedings, taking the lead through a penalty try which started outside the 22.

But it was Edinburgh that went into the break 9-7 ahead when Cuthbert was once again on target with the boot. Gloucester started the second period impressively with Matt Kvesic making a break, and that pressure was eventually rewarded with a Burns' penalty.

Alan Solomons' side responded to losing that advantage when good patience allowed them to build an attack on the hosts' line and Atiga went over. Although the Cherry and Whites immediately got on the front foot resulting in the sin-binning of WP Nel, Edinburgh held firm.

And as the game neared its conclusion, it was the away team that lifted the intensity and Ben Morgan was yellow carded as the Scottish team held on.
