Marksman: Julien Dupuy

Julien Dupuy's boot and two second-half tries handed Stade Franšais a 23-0 win over Toulon at the Stade Jean-Bouin.

Dupuy's first penalty proved to be the only points in the entire first half in an unexpectedly drab affair in Paris, with two more kicks from the France international extending the lead in the second-half.

Toulon were without Jonny Wilkinson and had Matt Giteau on the bench as Bryan Habana started on the left with Drew Mitchell at full-back.

A match dominated by the sound of the whistle more than anything else, 18 penalties were awarded by referee CÚdric Marchat after only 50 minutes.

Jules Plisson's interchange with Djibril Camara put Stade into an attacking position, allowing Dupuy to knock over his first penalty after 25 scoreless minutes.

The number nine had previously missed one shot at goal, whilst Toulon fly-half Frederic Michalak missed his first two attempts.

Good scrum pressure for the hosts after the interval brought about Dupuy's second penalty, with another three points coming three minutes later.

It was a dominant performance from Stade and they extended their lead on the scoreboard comfortably with Plisson's try in the 58th minute - the fly-half going on a dynamic run to beat four tacklers and score under the posts for a 16-0 lead.

It was enough to secure what in the end proved to be a comfortable win for Stade, who move up to 3rd before the rest of Saturday's matches.

Toulon on the other hand remain four points behind leaders Clermont after a sorry away performance, capped by Florian Fresia's late yellow card and a third missed kick from Michalak.

Geoffrey Doumayrou then added the gloss for Stade after pouncing on some poor handling from the visitors to score, South Africa fly-half MornÚ Steyn adding the conversion.
