Prop WP Nel's 74th-minute try secured a 20-13 victory for Edinburgh against Italian opponents Treviso at Murrayfield.
Both sides head into the game looking to bounce back from defeat the previous week, with Edinburgh having suffered a loss at the hands of Perpignan, and Treviso on the end of a heavy setback at the hands of Leicester.
The first try of the game came in the 12th minute, when Greig Tonks completed a flowing passing move to put his side in front, and after Greig Laidlaw had added the conversion, neither side was able to add further points as the Scots consolidated their position.
The next score didn't come until the 36th minute, when James Ambrosini got Treviso off the mark, although Edinburgh quickly responded in kind, and on the stroke of half-time Laidlaw restored the seven-point lead.
The second half proved similar to the first, with flowing rugby difficult to produce, and opportunities for points difficult to find.
The deadlock was broken just ahead of the hour when Laidlaw added to Edinburgh's lead with a well taken penalty goal, though Treviso injected life into the contest shortly after, when Luke McLean capitalised on a sustained period of possession to crash over.
Tobias Botes added the conversion and booted over a conversion shortly after to level the scores, guaranteeing a grandstand finish, but Edinburgh had one last trick up their sleeve, and in the 75th minute they struck a cruel, killer blow, as WP Nel barged his way over from short range to send the home fans into raptures.
Laidlaw converted to round off the scoring and a thrilling finale to the match.
