First try: Thomas Waldrom

Leicester Tigers snatched a late try bonus point through Adam Thompstone after convincingly defeating Treviso 34-3 at Welford Road.

Hampered by their own errors and Treviso's resilience, Tigers had to wait until the final play of the game to claim their fourth try and what could be a vital bonus point.

A frenetic but far from flawless first half saw Leicester establish a 13-0 lead through two penalties from Toby Flood and Thomas Waldrom's converted try three minutes before the interval.

Both sides set out to attack from the outset, but numerous handling mistakes, missed lineout throws, incomplete scrums and the fussy officiating of Pascal Gauzere all made for a frustrating first 40 minutes.

But some of the pent-up frustration inside Welford Road was relieved when Waldrom crashed over from a lineout catch-and-drive, shortly after Treviso scrum-half Tobias Botes had returned from the sin-bin.

Adam Thompstone went close and Waldrom was denied a second try for a double movement as Tigers started the second half with a flourish.

Having weathered the onslaught Treviso worked good field position and earned a shot at goal when Tom Youngs came in at the side in an illegal attempt to stop an organised rolling maul.

Botes made no mistake from the kicking tee to temporarily close the gap to 10 points.

Leicester cranked up the pressure again and Treviso eventually cracked after losing two men to the sin-bin inside 30 seconds.

Skipper Antonio Pavanello was the first to go after being found guilty of lazy running, while key defender Christian Loamanu joined him in seeing yellow after a high tackle on Blaine Scully.

The thirteen men of Treviso had no answer to Leicester's next forward drive and Tom Youngs provided try number two.

Tigers continued to make hard work of putting Treviso to the sword, but USA international Scully eventually slid over in the right hand corner with 15 minutes to go. Flood added the extras.

Just as it looked like the bonus point would go begging Leicester finally some fluidity to put Thompstone away for a try which Flood improved to make it six kicks out of six on the night.
