17 points: Trent Renata

Scrum-half Brad Weber scored a brace as Waikato thumped Auckland 42-24 in Hamilton on Saturday, running in six tries.

It took Waikato only half an hour to rack up a try bonus-point as they romped home past Auckland.

In a tale of two kickers, Trent Renata was perfect off the tee for the home side whilst Piri Weepu wasted a total of 10 possible points.

Waikato's bright start though was ultimately too much for Auckland to pull back, as the home side lead 28-12 at the interval.

Weber, the scrum-half on-loan from Otago, was the pick of the bunch amongst the try scorers as he grabbed a double.

There was some solace for Auckland who sealed a try bonus-point of their own, second row Liaki Moli crashing over for the fourth score.
