Aussie derby: Force v Reds

The Reds will be out for revenge against the Western Force when these sides meet in this Australian derby in Perth on Saturday.

The Force claimed a shock 19-12 victory in the previous match between these sides in Brisbane in Round five and also claimed a 45-19 win in Perth in 2012.

That defeat in Brisbane will still be rankling with the Reds and it could come back to haunt them during the business end of the competition.

Force wing Rory Dellit revealed earlier this week that the men from Perth felt that the Queenslanders underestimated them in that clash, although he does not expect the 2011 champions to make the same mistake again.

"I think they were expecting to run over the top of us," he told AAP.

"They thought they were going to walk over us.

"And the fact we beat them at Suncorp for the first time in our club's history, it was a great win.

"I'm sure they'll take us a bit more cautiously this time.

"We know they'll come out firing.

"They think they owe us one. But for these big matches, we want to get up and show our supporters what we can do."

The Force have been struggling to build momentum this season and their inconsistent form must be frustrating for their fans.

Apart from that win over the Reds, their only other victory was at home against the Crusaders in Round nine.

But despite those triumphs, against two tournament winning sides, they suffered a humiliating 41-7 loss to two-times champions the Brumbies in Canberra last weekend.

Reds boss Ewen McKenzie expects the Force to improve considerably on that showing.

"That was a really good style of a win by the Brumbies but take out that match and the Force have been a tough, determined team all season," he told The Australian.

"We've got to park that game and basically pretend it never happened."

Reds wing Digby Ioane will be in the spotlight after it was confirmed that he will be furthering his career in France at the end of the Super Rugby season.

Much will also depend on the performances of the Reds' halfbacks, Will Genia and Quade Cooper. If this duo are on top of their game it could be one-way traffic for the men from Brisbane.

Prediction: Despite playing away from home, the Reds will have too much class for their less glamorous neighbours and will win by 14 points!
