Liam Williams Scarlets 2012

Try for Scarlets: Liam Williams

Scarlets completed a clean sweep over Scottish opponents in the PRO12 this season with a 29-6 victory over Glasgow at Parc y Scarlets on Friday.

The result sees Glasgow relinquish top spot in the standings to Ulster while Scarlets moved up into the play-off places.

The home side dominated the opening quarter at the Parc y Scarlets and built a very healthy lead thanks to a pair of penalties from 21-year-old Leicester-bound fly-half Owen Williams and a try from Ken Owens.

The hooker, who played a part in every match in Wales' successful Six Nations campaign, put his side in a strong position with a surging run to within metres of the opposition line and then finished the job off himself after a series of pick and drives.

Ruaridh Jackson did get eventually the visitors on the scoreboard with a couple of penalties of his own as the first half wore on but Owen Williams slotted over an instinctive drop-goal in between the two to make it 16-6 at the interval.

The Welshmen sealed the victory early in the second half as good hands from Owen Williams and George North, who is also on his way to the English Premiership with Northampton, gave full-back Liam Williams a simple opportunity to score.

Owen Williams added six more points with the boot but the Scarlets didn't go hell for leather in search of a bonus point, instead settling for taking just the four points from a surprisingly lacklustre Warriors side as they battle with the Ospreys for the final play-off spot.
