The Mooloos kept their hands on the Ranfurly Shield after claiming a 28-3 victory over the now-relegated ITM Cup outfit Hawke's Bay in Hamilton.

The Magpies were just 6-3 down with half-an-hour played at Waikato Stadium but then folded as their fate was confirmed when tries from Alex Bradley, Declan O'Donnell and Save Tokula created a gap.

Waikato were playing under the knowledge they couldn't make the play-offs and so victory meant they finished the ITM Cup season in fifth position.
