Try for Ulster: Paddy Wallace

Ulster get back to winning ways by narrowly beating the Ospreys 15-14 in their Pro12 clash at Ravenhill on Friday.

The Ospreys began the game superbly, constantly putting pressure on the Ulster side with their surging forward runners.

Pedrie Wannenburg, returning from injury, was sin-binned early in the game after failing to retreat 10 metres after Ulster conceded a penalty.

The Ospreys took advantage of the numerical advantage when number eight Joe Bearman crashed over from short range. Dan Biggar's conversion gave the visiting side a 7-0 lead.

The influential Ruan Pienaar, switching from scrum-half to fly-half for the game, kicked a long-range penalty to get Ulster on the board.

Despite the Ospreys first-half dominance, Ulster persevered and went 10-7 in front at half-time.

Ulster were controversially awarded a penalty try for Biggar, who was also sin-binned, being accused of slapping the ball down in the last seconds of the half.

After the break Ulster went through multiple phases creating the overlap for Paddy Wallace to score and extend their lead to 15-7.

It took a phenomenal try-saving tackle from Kahn Fotuali'I to prevent Ian Whitten from further increasing Ulster's lead.

The Ospreys' frustrating second-half continued as turnovers and poor decision-making were stunting their progress.

It took a stunning individual try from the impressive Eli Walker to give the Welsh side a glimmer of hope with just minutes remaining.

Ulster valiantly held on to secure a well-earned victory against a tough Ospreys team. Brain McLaughlin's side have now suffered just one defeat in their last 18 matches in all competitions at Ravenhill.
