Try for Scarlets: Josh Turnbull

The Scarlets overturned a fourteen-point deficit to beat Treviso 34-20 in an entertaining Pro12 clash at Parc Y Scarlets on Thursday.

The bonus-point win sees Scarlets climb to fifth in the standings thanks to a late try courtesy of replacement scrum-half Liam Davies.

There were also tries for Josh Turnbull, Deacon Manu and Liam Williams as well as 14 points from the boot of Aled Thomas.

Treviso went 14-0 up after just six minutes after full-back Ludovico Nitoglia slid into the right corner from a line-out after two minutes and then Scarlets fly-half Thomas was charged down by lock Valerio Bernabo, who picked up and went over.

By the 37th minute the home side were back on level terms however. Back row Josh Turnbull charged over for the first try and then prop Deacon Manu muscled his way across from a close range maul to allow Thomas to kick his second conversion and make it 14-14.

But on the stroke of half-time Willem De Waal put Treviso back in front 17-14 with a penalty after the Scarlets went in from the side at a maul.

A patient build-up saw the Scarlets into the lead for the first time on 55 minutes as full-back Williams burst through for the region's third converted try. And a penalty for Thomas gave the home side a 24-17 lead.

There were yellow cards for the Treviso replacement centre Gonzalo Garcia in the 62nd minute, and then new Welsh international Aaron Shingler six minutes later, but the only changes to the scoreboard came through a penalty apiece from the two fly-halves.

Davies went in for the bonus-point try four minutes from time and in some style, scampering over from 20 metres out.
