Aironi Rugby v Benetton Treviso scrum

Scrum power: Treviso were awarded a penalty try

Treviso took revenge on Italian rivals Aironi with 37-14 bonus-point win at the Stadio Monigo on Saturday.

After their shock 27-13 loss in the reverse fixture the previous week, the hosts re-established themselves as the country's dominant side.

They opened up a comfortable 23-9 advantage through tries from Tobias Botes and Alessandro Zanni.

Kris Burton added two three-pointers and converted both of the first half tries, although Aironi responded with three penalties by Luciano Orquera.

But a Franco Sbaraglini touchdown and a penalty try sealed the bonus-point victory, despite Gabriel Pizarro's late score.

Orquera had been the hero last week with a perfect kicking display and he opened the scoring here with another from the tee.

Burton and the visiting fly-half then traded further penalties, before the hosts' fly-half levelled the match at 6-6.

After 17 minutes, Botes scored the first try of the game before Zanni continued their dominance when he crossed the whitewash. Burton converted both although Orquera reduced the gap to 11 points.

Tommaso Benvenuti was sin-binned for the hosts, but despite being a man light, Treviso's fly-half added his second three-pointer.

The hosts carried on dominating the second period and were deservedly rewarded when Sbaraglini touched down.

Burton did the rest before the visitors saw Andrea Masi yellow carded.

Treviso's dominance up front saw a penalty try awarded, but a fraught fixture meant a third player was sent-off for 10 minutes, this time it was hosts' full-back Luke McLean.

Pizarro touched down late on for Aironi, but Treviso went home comfortable winners.
