Waikato went top of the ITM Cup Premiership standings thanks to a 25-10 win over Otago in Hamilton on Sunday.

The Mooloo Men's replacements Declan O'Donnell and Ted Tauroa dotted down in the final quarter of the match to secure Waikato's four-try bonus point that takes them above Taranaki in the Premiership race.

Waikato led 15-10 at half-time courtesy of tries from Henry Speight and Brendon Leonard.

Buxton Popoali'i scored Otago's only try of the match.

The southerners remain third in the Championship, nine points adrift of second place.
