Taranaki came from behind to beat Tasman 26-23 in their ITM Cup crossover encounter at Yarrow Stadium in New Plymouth on Friday.
The victory takes the Amber and Blacks top of the Premiership table on 23 points, but their lead might only last a day with games from second-placed Bay of Plenty and Waikato (19 points) still to come.
Trailing 16-13 at half-time, two quick-fire penalties after the break by star of the show Andre Taylor edged the home side in front before he scored a breakaway try to help Taranaki to their fifth win of the season.
