Sale Sharks v El Salvador score

Cricket score: Sale smashed the Spanish champs

Sale Sharks racked up their biggest victory in Europe with an emphatic 97-11 win over Cetransa El Salvador in the Amlin Challenge Cup.

Elsewhere in Pool Two, Brive comfortably beating Petrarca Rugby 32-6 in France to satnd second in

Tom Brady scored a hat-trick of tries while Fergus Mulchrone grabbed two as Sharks hit the Spanish champions for 15 tries at Edgeley Park.

Fly-half Nick Macleod also crossed twice and kicked eight conversions to equal Charlie Hodgson's club record of 26 points in a match.

El Salvador have not won a European tie for six years yet took a shock lead through centre Jaike Carter in the fourth minute.

However three tries in the space of six minutes Sisaro Koyamaibole, Macleod and Andy Tuilagi set Sale on course for an easy win.

Brady wrapped up a bonus point after just 21 minutes before Chris Bell and Mulchrone opened a 36-11 half-time lead.

Macleod took just two minutes of the second half to add to the scoring with his second try and then converted Chris Brightwell's score to take Sale to the half-century mark.

Ben Cohen, Chris Jones, Brady (twice), replacement Rob Miller and Mulchrone all scored in a 14-minute blitz. Chris Leck completed the rout as Sale missed out on the century by just a penalty.

Meanwhile, Brive produced a strong second-half effort to overwhelm Petrarca Padova 32-6 in their Amlin Challenge Cup opener.

After an early exchange of penalties, Brive winger Mathias Atayi bagged the opening try in the 13th minute much to the delight of the crowd at Stade Municipal.

But Tim Walsh's drop goal, coupled with some stern defence, helped Petrarca through to half-time trailing just 8-6.

It was a different story in the second period as, after both sides made a raft of substitutions, Brive took control - mainly thanks to the efforts of Julien Caminati.

Caminati slotted a penalty and then converted his own try to allow the Top 14 outfit to move 18-6 ahead with 22 minutes remaining.

And they added further converted tries from centre Régis Lespinas and replacement Viliame Waqaseduadua in the final five minutes to secure a bonus point and give the final scoreline a comprehensive look.
