Dave Walder kicks a drop goal v Sale

Facing the drop: Wasps remain at the wrong end of the table

London Wasps' season slid into further despair on Sunday as they went down 13-12 at home to Sale in the Guinness Premiership.

Wasps lead 12-6 at half-time thanks to fly-half Dave Walder, who landed four penalties to two from Hodgson.

With just five minutes to go, and no points for either side in the second half, it looked as if Wasps may hold on for a priceless win.

Alas it was not to be as England discards Cueto and Hodgson combined to secure victory, and leave Wasps in a major battle for survival.

Wasps have the small consolation of a losing bonus point that means they are two points above bottom club Bristol.
