Rugby supporters and critics have spoken out after a dazed Toulouse centre Florian Fritz returned to the field of play against Racing Métro.
The France centre collided with the knee of Racing lock Francois van der Merwe and was escorted from the pitch with blood pouring from a cut to the head, dazed and confused.
Fritz was promptly stitched up and allowed to return to the field before finally being brought off at half-time for Gaël Fickou.
The severity of the injury lead to heavy criticism of the decision allowing Fritz to pay on, with calls to IRB chief Brett Gosper to take action.
"I had a small KO. I don't remember everything," Fritz told Canal+ afterwards.
"It was better to leave a fresh guy like Gaël Fickou [take my place]."
