Toulon have announced the signing on Monday of Montpellier number nine Éric Escande on a two-year deal for next season.
Escande, who plays behind Benoît Paillaugue and Jonathan Pélissié at Montpellier, will make the move south next season as Toulon reshuffle their half-backs.
A France youth international up to U20 level, Escande is a strong goal-kicker who will compete with Michael Claassens and Sébastien Tillous-Borde next season for the current champions.
The arrival of Escande seems to suggest that Toulon will use Frédéric Michalak at fly-half next season, with captain Jonny Wilkinson expected to announce his retirement.
Toulon have already signed Wales lock Ian Evans and full-back Leigh Halfpenny for 2014/2015, with James O'Connor joining on a short-term deal.
