Castres jumped up to second in the Top 14 standings after beating Bordeaux-Bègles 15-9 in a try-less encounter at Stade Pierre-Antoine.

The champions were held at 6-6 going into the break in a game that saw Clement Maynadier, Yannick Caballero and Geoffrey Palis carded.

But the second-half saw wing Palis double his tally to twelve on minutes 54 and 64 before Cedric Garcia made it 15-6 with nine minutes remaining.

Replacement Baptiste Serin landed a penalty goal with six minutes to go that saw Bordeaux-Bègles come away from the game with a point.
