Battle of Rosario: Pumas v Wallabies

It's time for us to put our heads on the block and give you Planet Rugby's calls for this weekend's global action.

The Rugby Championship concludes with two thrillers at Ellis Park and in Rosario, as Round Five of the Aviva Premiership and RaboDirect PRO12 accompany action from the Top 14 as the European season rumbles on.

So with matches taking place across the globe, keep your eyes glued to the information below for the best tips and bets.

Let's get started...

The Rugby Championship

South Africa v New Zealand

The "Test of the Year" as billed in our match preview, South Africa against New Zealand at Ellis Park is a special occasion. That's mainly because there are few venues in world rugby where the All Blacks are truly intimated.

The world champions therefore lose some of their custom favourability, priced at 4/5 to South Africa's 11/10. The best chances seem to come when considering the half-time score; the Springboks are 5/1 to lead by 8-14 points at the break, with New Zealand at 9/2.

South Africa coming from behind to win after trailing at half-time is attractive at 7/1, whilst a winning margin of 11-15 points for the Boks is 9/1 and by 16-20, 14/1.

Tries are at a premium for this one considering the Boks need four, but Ben Smith, the tournament's top try scorer, is on fire right now and available as a first try scorer at 10/1. Bryan Habana on the opposite side is 12/1.

That all important bet, can South Africa get the bonus point? 7/4.

Prediction: South Africa by 4.

Argentina v Australia

Oh, Australia. The strugglers arrive in Rosario ready for an onslaught, priced at 5/6 whilst Argentina are evens.

Argentina to win by more than 13 points is an appealing 5/1, but that sort of big result would require a complete Australian collapse.

A Pumas half-time lead between 8-14 points at 5/1 seems like a sensible option considering Argentina have tended to perform better in the first half this year, whilst an even scoreboard at the break is on offer at 10/1 - which considering the narrow scoreboard when these two sides met in Perth earlier this year is worth considering.

An Argentinian victory after being behind at half-time is 6/1, whilst the reverse for the Wallabies is 7/1. The Pumas should also be considered for a win between 6-10 points at 5/1.

Prediction: Argentina by 5.

Aviva Premiership

Sale Sharks v Bath

Sale's start to last season was so miserable that any improvement this time round was going to be a bonus - so winning two of their first four matches is definitely a step up.

Bath have also started well with three victories under their belt, making them 8/11 favourites for Friday's clash in Salford.

A Bath win by more than 13 points is expected and priced at 3/1. Other winning margins include Bath by 6-10 points at 5/1 and by 11-15 points at 8/1.

Mark Cueto, who this week spoke out over other clubs dodging the salary cap, is down at 10/1 to be the first try scorer with Paddy Power.

Prediction: Bath by 12.

Other SuperBru Premiership Predictions:

Worcester v Newcastle: Worcester by 10.
London Irish v Harlequins: Quins by 6.
Saracens v Wasps: Saracens by 12.
Leicester v Northampton: Leicester by 3.
Gloucester v Exeter: Gloucester by 7.

RaboDirect Pro12

Ospreys v Ulster

Friday will see the Ospreys celebrate Alun Wyn Jones making his 150th appearance for the side as they take on second-placed Ulster.

The Ospreys have not lost at home for 10 matches and are favourites at 1/2, with Ulster down at 13/8.

Expected to win at home, an Ospreys victory by more than 13 points only offers 2/1. For Ulster to do the same, the odds are 15/2.

Should the Ospreys come from behind at half-time to win, the odds are 6/1. The returning Andrew Trimble is a first try scorer bet at 11/1.

Prediction: Ospreys by 9.

Munster v Leinster

Despite being at home, Munster are outsiders against the champions on Saturday - priced at 6/4.

A Munster victory by 13 points or more is 15/2, whilst Leinster leading by 8-14 points at half-time is attractive at 4/1. Should the champions come from behind however to win after trailing at the break, those odds are 6/1.

Red cards are not uncommon in this fixture over the last few seasons, so look out for one at 25/1.

Prediction: Leinster by 3.

Other SuperBru Pro12 Predictions:

Dragons vs Zebre: Dragons by 9.
Treviso vs Connacht: Treviso by 7.
Scarlets vs Glasgow: Glasgow by 8.
Cardiff Blues vs Edinburgh: Cardiff by 8.

Top 14

Biarritz v Perpignan

Despite Biarritz's lowly league position, the Basque strugglers (1/2) are favourites to take down Perpignan at home - with the visitors priced at 13/8.

A win for USAP by more than 13 points is on offer at 10/1 and a Biarritz half-time lead by 1-7 points is 2/1 and by 8-14 at 4/1.

Should Perpignan win by a margin of 6-10 points, then the price is 7/1.

Prediction: Perpignan by 4.

Good luck!
