Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal is hopeful that Bryan Habana will make his presence felt from the outset when he makes his debut for the club on Saturday.
Habana joined up with the Top 14 outfit in July and played in two pre-season friendlies before joining up with the Springboks for the start of the Rugby Championship.
The winger has been released for this weekend's fixture against Grenoble and Boudjellal is eager for the South African to follow the trend started by other Toulon superstars.
"Each time I managed to sign a big-name player, be that (Tana) Umaga or (Jonny) Wilkinson, he has succeeded in doing something decisive in his first match," Boudjellal said.
"I hope this magic will continue in Grenoble, but the magic, it's something quite tricky to manage, it's not an exact science.
"It works or it doesn't work."
