Champions Castres will be without Brice Dulin and Remy Grosso for Saturday's Top 14 opener with Perpignan due to injuries.
Castres coach David Darricarrere revealed that France full-back Dulin's absence had been expected after he suffered a broken jaw in a street attack three weeks ago.
Former Lyon three-quarter Grosso, one of five close-season signings by Castres, is likely to be out for 10 to 15 days because of a bruised thigh, Darricarrere said.
Fellow new signing Geoffey Palis (back) is also an injury doubt, as is Roman Teulet (knee), while Seremai Bai "also has a few knocks but nothing serious", the coach added.
Cedric Garcia, who signed from Bayonne in the close season, is back training but is still likely to be sidelined for Saturday's opener.
South Africa's Rory Kockott and Julien Thomas are available at scrum-half, however.
Hooker Mathieu Bonello, who picked up a hand injury at the back end of last season, is still out and was the only absentee from training on Tuesday with Yannick Caballero (ankle).
