Yachvili escapes with just 10 days

Lucky escape: Dimitri Yachvili

Biarritz scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili has been handed a ten-day suspension for stamping by an LNR disciplinary committee.

The French international was found guilty of "dangerous play" after being shown a yellow card for repeatedly stamping on Racing-Métro centre Henry Chavancy during their clash at the Parc des Sports d'Aguilera.

The ban means Yachvili will be able to play again from March 15 missing just one game, this weekend's trip to league leaders Toulon.

The leniency of the verdict is incomprehensible considering the video evidence (have a look here) and the three-week ban recently given to Ireland prop Cian Healy.

Meanwhile, Mont-de-Marsan prop Ephraïm Taukafa has been suspended for 20 days, also for "dangerous play". He can play again from 25 March.

Well did we expect anything else from a judicary everyone has lost confidance in Saying that 10 days is a total disgrace is just stating the obvious .IRB please please scrap the present system asap.NO ONE HAS ANY CONFIDANCE IN IT NOW.There should be no shortening of bans for any reason,a ban should be a ban full stop,no matches of any kind for a set number of weeks. Also the minium ban should be for 4 weeks for a minor offence, and if intent ect is shown extended by 2 weeks min thats my opinion for just minor offences, like late or high tackles that are dangerous ect.For more serious offences stamping ,gouging headbutting ,punching ect you start from 12 weeks min.Make the players pay a fine aswel starting at £100 to £1000 or whatever

The next time any French fans accuse the 6N, AP or Pro12 committees of 'Anglo-Celtic bias' or similar, I shall refer them to this farce of a decision.

I see. Exactly who does Yachvili have photos of, doing what, with whom?! Healy get's three weeks for a much lesser offence. The IRB have to get a grip on this before the game becomes a laughing stock. Do Biarritz face Racing again this season, because if the LNR aren't going to do anything about it I rather hope someone else does.

What??

Not dealing properly with dangerous and foul play will increase the pressure on the referees, who will be challenges by professional thugs and cheater more and more.

Get it right and give both Healy and Yachvily 3 or 4 month bans.
